1987 FERRARI F40
The Ferrari F40 is a sports car produced between 1987 and 1998, having the F50 as its successor. Born to celebrate the first forty years of sporting activity of the Modena car manufacturer, the "F40" was premiered to the press at the civic center of Maranello on July 21, 1987, by Enzo Ferrari, Leonardo Fioravanti and Nicola Materazzi. In the following month of September it was exposed to the public during the Frankfurt motor show.
Among other special features, the car has been the first road car in Ferrari history to be built with various composite materials such as kevlar for the frame, Carbon fiber, glass fibres for the body, aeronautical resins for fuel tanks and Plexiglas for the side windows. At the time of its presentation, it was the fastest road car ever built with its 324 km/h declared top speed (often significantly exceeded in various tests).
The model sits on a leatherette black base with yellow stitching.
